Musical Debut and Development
Kang joined CNBLUE in 2009. The group initially introduced themselves to audiences through the Japanese indie label AI Entertainment, releasing the mini album Now or Never on August 19, 2009. Their 2010 transition to the Korean market proved highly successful, as their track 'I'm a Loner' established the band's profile. Beyond his role as the band's drummer, Kang has pursued independent musical projects, including the 2019 release of Japanese singles 'Moontalk' and 'On the Cheek' in early 2019, followed by an expanded collection of Japanese tracks that March.

His acting career began in 2010 with the omnibus film Acoustic and a television role in It's Okay, Daddy's Girl. In 2012, he appeared in My Husband Got a Family, a program that achieved record-breaking ratings, including a 52.3 percent peak according to AGB Nielsen. Subsequent projects included the 2013 teen drama The Heirs, for which he received a Best Onscreen Couple award at the 2013 DramaFever Awards, and his first lead role in the 2017 medical drama Hospital Ship. His career also encompasses work in period films such as The Princess and the Matchmaker and various streaming series like the 2021 production How to Be Thirty.
Military Service and Public Activity
Kang fulfilled his mandatory military obligations starting on July 31, 2018, serving within the 55th Division located in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. He completed his service on March 19, 2020. Outside of his professional entertainment engagements, Kang has participated in humanitarian efforts; in April 2019, he donated 10 million won to assist recovery efforts following forest fires in Gangwon Province. His creative output has also branched into writing, marked by the 2022 release of his book, Not Everything.
