Lodovico Migliore, known as Ico, balanced a career as a professional ice hockey player with a significant trajectory in architecture and design. Born in Turin in 1956, he competed in the 1984 Winter Olympics while concurrently pursuing architectural studies under the supervision of Achille Castiglioni at the Polytechnic University of Turin, establishing a dual professional foundation.
Athletic Career and Management
Migliore spent years as a professional ice hockey player, competing for HC Bolzano, HC Valpellice, Mastini Varese, and HC Milan Saima. He served as team captain for Mastini Varese and Milan Saima. His national team experience included four World Cup appearances and the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics. Following his retirement as a player, he held various management roles, including deputy manager and technical manager for the Milan Vipers. He later co-founded Hockey Milano Rossoblu, serving as chairman from 2010 to 2016, and received the Region of Lombardy's Rosa Camuna and the Ambrogino d'Oro for his sports contributions.

In 1997, Migliore co-founded the firm Migliore + Servetto Architects alongside Mara Servetto. The studio operates internationally on diverse project scales ranging from urban design to museum exhibitions and interior design. Their work is characterized by the application of new technologies and expressive lighting. Beyond his private practice, he serves as a professor at the School of Design at the Polytechnic University of Milan and holds a Chair Professor position at the College of Design at Busan Dongseo University in South Korea.

His architectural and design output has earned numerous accolades, including three ADI Compasso d'Oro awards in 2008, 2014, and 2018, supplemented by five Honorable Mentions from the same organization. His international recognition includes eleven Red Dot Design Awards, two German Design Awards, two FX Interior Design Awards, and the ASAL Exhibition Design of the Year.
