Ibrahim Roshdy Mahlab served as the 52nd Prime Minister of Egypt between 1 March 2014 and 19 September 2015. His tenure followed a career as a civil engineer, which included a long period at the Arab Contractors Company. Prior to his leadership of the national government, he managed ministerial responsibilities within the Egyptian cabinet.
Early Career and Corporate Leadership
Born in 1949 within the Gharbia Governorate, Mahlab pursued an education at Cairo University. He joined the Arab Contractors Company early in his professional life. Through internal advancement, he reached the position of deputy CEO during the 1990s and eventually assumed the role of CEO in 2001, a position he held until his resignation in 2012.

Before the 2011 Egyptian revolution, Mahlab participated in the political structure of the era. He served as an appointed member of the 2010 Shura Council and was active in the Policies Committee of the National Democratic Party.
Ministerial Roles and Prime Ministry
Following the 2013 Egyptian coup d'etat, the interim government led by Hazem el-Beblawi appointed Mahlab as the Minister of Housing. Upon the resignation of the Beblawi cabinet, Mahlab received the mandate to form a new interim government. His stated priorities included the restoration of national security, the suppression of terrorism, and the rebuilding of the Egyptian economy. He requested an end to public strikes and protests shortly after his inauguration. In June 2014, he was reappointed to his office before his eventual resignation in September 2015.
