Early Career in Brazil
Simplício began his professional football journey with his hometown club, São Paulo FC. Over a five-year tenure, he established himself as a key contributor to the team. In 2004, Arrigo Sacchi recruited Simplício to Parma FC, marking the start of his Italian career. He debuted on 22 September 2004, one day before turning 25, during a match against Bologna FC 1909. After two seasons at Parma, he transferred to U.S. Città di Palermo in June 2006 for a fee of €7.1 million. During his four seasons in Sicily, he appeared in over 26 league matches per campaign and played in eight UEFA Cup fixtures, scoring two goals in that competition. In 2010, he signed a three-year contract with AS Roma worth €1.8 million per season. His time in Rome included a notable 2–1 victory against S.S. Lazio in the Coppa Italia and a goal during a 3–1 win against SSC Napoli.
International and Late Career
Simplício earned his solitary cap for the Brazil national team on 17 November 2009. He entered as a second-half substitute for Felipe Melo in a 2–0 friendly win against Oman. Following his departure from Roma in 2012, he moved to Japan to join Cerezo Osaka in the J1 League. His debut for the club occurred on 4 August 2012, where he contributed to a 4–0 result against Consadole Sapporo.
Business Ventures
Following his retirement from professional play, Simplício entered the sports business sector. He became an owner of the American team Miami Dade FC. Additionally, he participated in the development of Ginga Scout, a software platform, working alongside former players including Roberto Carlos, Emerson, and Roberto Linck.
