Early Career and Ensemble Experience
By age 16, Biondi appeared at the Musikverein in Vienna to perform violin concertos composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. His formative years included collaborations with various baroque ensembles, such as La Capella Reial, Musica Antiqua Wien, Seminario Musicale, La Chapelle Royale, and Les Musiciens du Louvre. In 1990, Biondi established the ensemble Europa Galante to focus on baroque music interpretation under his direction. The group has since produced a extensive discography, notably focusing on Antonio Vivaldi. Significant releases with the ensemble include L'estro armonico, various concerti con molti strumenti, and the 2010 recording of Ercole Sul Termodonte. In 2015, they recorded I Concerti Dell' Addio, also known as The Farewell Concertos.
Recording Repertoire and Artistic Direction
Beyond his work with Europa Galante, Biondi has recorded works by Arcangelo Corelli, Alessandro Scarlatti, and George Frideric Handel. His solo and ensemble discography spans the 18th-century Italian violin repertoire, including music by Francesco Maria Veracini, Pietro Locatelli, and Giuseppe Tartini, alongside sonatas by Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann. In 2005, he assumed the role of artistic director for baroque music within the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
