Professional Origins
Born in 1961 in Roskilde, Denmark, Mandrup completed her architectural education at the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1991. Following this, she studied sculpture and ceramics at Rowan University in the United States. She gained professional experience at Henning Larsen Architects between 1992 and 1995. In 1995, she co-founded the firm Fuglsang & Mandrup-Poulsen, which remained active until 1999.

On 30 June 1999, she established Dorte Mandrup A/S, an architectural practice based in Copenhagen. The firm has completed numerous projects, including the 2005 conversion of the Jægersborg Water Tower and the 2017 Wadden Sea Centre. Her portfolio also includes the 2008 St. Nicolai Cultural Centre and the 2015 Sallingtårnet in Aarhus. Ongoing work involves the Icefjord Centre in Greenland and the planned Bestseller development in Brande, which features a proposed tower exceeding 200 metres in height.
