Christina Milian entered the recording industry through her collaboration on Ja Rule’s 2000 single, "Between Me and You," which reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Born Christina Flores in Jersey City, she adopted her mother’s maiden name to expand her acting prospects, subsequently developing a multifaceted career as a singer, voice actor, and songwriter.
Early Career and Education
Raised in Waldorf, Maryland, after her birth in 1981, she pursued acting from age nine, performing in commercials and a production of Annie. Her mother eventually moved the family to Los Angeles to support her aspirations. Milian attended Matthew Henson Middle School, Westlake High School, and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She began her professional journey as a host for Disney Channel’s Movie Surfers and later worked extensively with producer Rodney Jerkins to secure a recording contract.

Her debut single "AM to PM" was released in 2001, followed by her self-titled studio album in 2002. She gained further recognition performing the theme song for the Disney series Kim Possible, titled "Call Me, Beep Me!" Her second studio album, It's About Time, featured the hit "Dip It Low," while her third project, So Amazin', released in 2006, included the single "Say I." In 2015, she independently released an extended play titled 4U.
Film and Television Work
Milian transitioned into acting with roles in films including Love Don't Cost a Thing, Be Cool, Pulse, and the direct-to-DVD production Bring It On: Fight to the Finish. She appeared in the ABC Family film Christmas Cupid and the sitcom Grandfathered. Between 2024 and 2025, she portrayed the character María LaGuerta in the television series Dexter: Original Sin. Her career also includes voice acting and professional modeling.
