Early Development and Digital Rise
Born in 1994 in Marlton, New Jersey, Christina Victoria Grimmie attended Cherokee High School and Bethel Baptist Christian School. Her father identified her vocal talent at age six, and she began playing piano by ear at age 10. By 2009, she began posting videos to YouTube. Her cover of Miley Cyrus’s "Party in the U.S.A." garnered significant attention, leading to her being discovered by Mandy Teefey. Following this, she became an active collaborator in the digital music space, notably recording a version of Nelly’s "Just a Dream" with Sam Tsui and Kurt Hugo Schneider.

That year, she expanded her career through live performance, appearing on the inaugural DigiTour and opening for Selena Gomez & the Scene. She also performed at the 39th American Music Awards of 2011 pre-show. By early 2012, she relocated to Los Angeles, moving from independent YouTube production to more formal industry structures, eventually starring in her own web show, Power Up: with Christina Grimmie.
The Voice and Final Projects
Grimmie transitioned to television in 2014, participating in season six of The Voice. She finished in third place behind Josh Kaufman and Jake Worthington. Throughout her career, she released the album With Love in 2013, followed by the EP Side A in 2016. Her acting work included a role in the film The Matchbreaker. Following her death in 2016 in Orlando, Florida, her final work, All Is Vanity, was released posthumously in 2017.
