Amateur Development

The Washington Nationals selected Harper as the first overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft. He signed a contract worth $9.9 million, which included a $6.25 million signing bonus. After stints in the minor leagues with the Hagerstown Suns and Syracuse Chiefs, Harper made his MLB debut on April 28, 2012, at 19 years old.
Career Milestones
Harper earned the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 2012 and became the youngest position player to appear in an All-Star Game that same year. In 2015, he won the NL Most Valuable Player award. He signed a 13-year, $330 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies during the 2018–19 offseason.
