Formative Years and Education
Raised by parents including his mother Nancy Falchuk, who served as national president of the Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization of America, Falchuk attended Beaver Country Day School. During his youth, he engaged in athletics such as baseball, basketball, and lacrosse. He later enrolled at Hobart and William Smith Colleges from 1989 to 1993. Following his undergraduate studies, he pursued a master’s degree in screenwriting at the AFI Conservatory. Falchuk entered the industry as a writer for projects including Mutant X, Earth: Final Conflict, and Veritas: The Quest. His career shifted in 2003 when he began working on the first season of Nip/Tuck, establishing a foundational professional partnership with Ryan Murphy. Together with Ian Brennan, they developed Glee, a show centered on high school show choirs that premiered on the Fox Broadcasting Company in 2009. The series ran for six seasons, concluding in March 2015, and earned multiple Writers Guild of America Award nominations.
Anthology Series and Production Deals
In 2011, Falchuk and Murphy co-created American Horror Story for FX, an anthology series that garnered extensive critical attention and multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including recognitions for Falchuk’s writing and production. His portfolio expanded to include Scream Queens, which ran from 2015 to 2016, and the executive production of American Crime Story starting in 2016.
