Medical Training and Practice
Born in 1971 in Pruszków, Grabowska pursued her foundational training at the Medical University of Warsaw. Her medical career is defined by her specialization in epileptology, a field requiring precise diagnostic skill. She held positions at the Neurology and Epileptology Clinic in Warsaw and served within the Department of Pathophysiology and Electroencephalography at the Dziekanów Leśny Hospital. Beyond clinical settings, she maintains active involvement with the Polish Epileptology Association, contributing to the broader understanding of seizure disorders. The transition from medical practice to creative writing began in 2011 with the publication of her debut novel, Tam, gdzie urodził się Orfeusz. Her literary range encompasses both children’s literature and adult fiction. The most significant achievement in her writing career is the three-volume historical family saga, Stulecie Winnych. This work earned her the Pióro Award in 2015 during the 4th Festival of Women's Literature in Siedlce. The saga gained substantial public visibility in 2019 when TVP 1, Poland’s national broadcaster, adapted the narrative into a television series. Directed by Piotr Trzaskalski, the production featured actors including Kinga Preis, Olaf Lubaszenko, Adam Ferency, and Jan Wieczorkowski.
Artistic Contributions and Public Engagement
Grabowska’s creative output expanded into musical theatre in recent years. In 2020, she authored the libretto for Pora jeziora, a production staged by the Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic. She continued this work in 2023 by writing the libretto for the musical Kopernik, performed by the Kraków Opera. Her influence also spans social activism; she served as an ambassador for the Women's Solidarity campaign starting in 2014. Drawing from her Polish–Bulgarian heritage, she maintains fluency in both languages while continuing to reside in Poland with her children, Julian, Alina, and Franciszek.
