The theme, and the year it was set in
Google India chose “Celebrating Indian Women” as the 2013 theme and put it to schoolchildren across the country. Thousands of entries arrived from more than 100 cities. The final decision rested with two judges of very different kinds: the actor Kirron Kher, and Ajit Ninan, one of the best-known political cartoonists in Indian newspapers.

Children's Day, and the other winners
The result was announced on 12 November 2013 and the doodle ran on Google's Indian homepage two days later, on 14 November, Children's Day, as the Indian edition of the contest has done each year.
Three group winners were recognised alongside her: Madhuram Vatsal of St Francis's College, Lucknow, in grades one to three; Binita Biswajeeta of D.A.V. Public School, Balasore, Odisha, in grades four to six, for Women Are Future, Empower Them Better; and Akash Shetty of St Aloysius High School, Mangalore, in grades seven to ten, for Indian Women Leading Our Country.
