Zachary Levi began his professional acting trajectory in 2000, appearing as a teenager in the series Whatever before securing a long-term role on the ABC sitcom Less Than Perfect. Television and Action Comedy
Levi rose to prominence as the protagonist Chuck Bartowski in the action-comedy series Chuck, which aired from 2007 to 2012. Following this, he took on the role of Luke Collins in the NBC miniseries Heroes Reborn and appeared as Dr. Benjamin Ettenberg in the second season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. His work in the latter series contributed to a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2019.

In 2010, Levi provided the voice for Flynn Rider in the Disney animated feature Tangled, performing the song I See the Light alongside Mandy Moore. He continued this role in the short film Tangled Ever After and the series Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. Beyond voice acting, he made his Broadway debut in the musical comedy First Date in 2013 and received a Tony Award nomination for his lead role as Georg Nowack in the 2016 revival of She Loves Me.
Superhero and Feature Film Roles
His filmography includes the lead role of Shazam in the 2019 superhero film Shazam! and its 2023 sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods. He also appeared as Fandral in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. Additional film credits include the legal drama The Mauritanian, the biographical sports film American Underdog, and the 2024 adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon. In 2025, he portrayed Scott LeRette in The Unbreakable Boy.
Early Background
Born in 1980 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Susan Marie Pugh and Darrell Alton Pugh, Levi moved through various states during his childhood before settling in Ventura, California. He attended Buena High School for four years. His initial stage experience began at age six, leading to roles in regional Ojai Art Center productions such as Grease, Oklahoma!, and The Wizard of Oz.
