Clinical Practice and Education
Gilli followed a multi-stage educational path, starting with a three-year nursing diploma after completing her secondary schooling. After obtaining her secondary school leaving certificate, she focused on medicine. In 2000, Gilli joined the Green Party of Switzerland within the Canton of St. Gallen. Her local political involvement began with representing Wil from 2000 to 2005. She subsequently served as a deputy in the Canton Parliament of St. Gallen between 2004 and 2007, marking a period of transition from regional governance to federal participation.
National Council Service
The 2007 Swiss federal election resulted in Gilli’s election to the National Council, where she represented the Canton of St. Gallen. She maintained this federal seat through a successful re-election in 2011. Her tenure in the National Council concluded in 2015 after she lost her seat. Throughout her years in Bern, she balanced her duties as a legislator with her ongoing commitments as a physician.
