Yigael Yadin (1917–1984) was an Israeli archeologist, military officer and politician. Yadin was born in Jerusalem on 20 March 1917. He died in Jerusalem on 28 June 1984, at the age of 67.
Yadin served as Knesset member (1977–1978), Chief of the General Staff (1949–1952), Deputy Prime Minister of Israel (1977–1981) and Knesset member (1978–1981). He worked in archaeology. He was attached to Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He had begun working by 1932.
Yadin was awarded Israel Prize (1956), Percia Schimmel Prize (1983) and Rothschild Prize. He was elected to Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities. He studied at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Gymnasia Rehavia.
Yadin was the son of Eleazar Sukenik and Hasya Sukenik. He is recorded as following Judaism.
