Wilfred Ndidi

Nigerian association football player

A long-range strike recorded at over 111 km/h defined the early career trajectory of Wilfred Ndidi, a midfielder who transitioned from the Nath Boys Academy to the European professional stage. Born in Lagos on 16 December 1996, the Nigerian athlete eventually established himself as a defensive force in both the Premier League and international competition.

Early Professional Development

Ndidi began his professional journey after signing a €180,000 transfer deal with Genk on 15 January 2015. His Belgian Pro League debut occurred shortly thereafter on 31 January against Charleroi. While at Genk, he gained prominence for a technical goal against Club Brugge during a play-off match, earning the title of goal of the season. His development in the youth setup of Nigeria was interrupted temporarily by an MRI age test during the African U-17 Championship, but he transitioned effectively into the U-20 team.
