Mortensen’s screen career commenced in 1985 with a role in the Peter Weir film Witness. During the 1990s, he built a diverse filmography including The Portrait of a Lady, G.I. Jane, A Perfect Murder, and 28 Days. His early stage work, including a performance in Bent, earned him a Dramalogue Critics’ Award. He also appeared in television projects like Miami Vice and the soap opera Search for Tomorrow.
