Born to Prince Henry of Battenberg and Princess Beatrice, the infant received the title of Highness through a specific 1886 Royal Warrant granted by Queen Victoria. Raised within the British royal residences of Windsor Castle, Balmoral, and Osborne House, Ena functioned as a constant companion to her grandmother. Following the 1896 death of her father in Africa and the 1901 passing of the Queen, she resided at Kensington Palace and Osborne Cottage.

The courtship began following an official 1905 visit by King Alfonso XIII to London, where the Spanish monarch selected Ena despite opposition from his mother, Queen Maria Christina. The union required Ena to transition from the Anglican faith to Catholicism. Upon her marriage on 31 May 1906, she assumed the role of Queen consort of Spain, a position she maintained until the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic on 14 April 1931.
Public Recognition and Legacy
During her tenure as consort, she engaged in various public duties and was formally acknowledged with the Golden Rose and the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit. After the transition of the Spanish government in 1931, she continued her life abroad. Victoria Eugenie died on 15 April 1969 at Villa Vieille Fontaine and was interred at the Royal Crypt of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
