The name Måneskin, meaning moonlight, emerged from a brainstorming session where Victoria De Angelis offered Danish words to her bandmates in 2016. Foundations and Early Influences
De Angelis began her musical training at age eight with the guitar, transitioning to the bass during the seventh grade. The band took its current shape after De Angelis and Raggi met Damiano David at a high school in Rome. The final member, drummer Ethan Torchio, was recruited via a Facebook advertisement. Following their breakthrough with the 2018 studio album Il ballo della vita, the band expanded their reach through extensive touring. In 2021, the group achieved international recognition by winning the Sanremo Music Festival and the Eurovision Song Contest with the track Zitti e buoni. Subsequent releases included the 2021 album Teatro d'ira: Vol. I and the 2023 record Rush!, issued through Epic Records. De Angelis also collaborated with Duran Duran in 2023, providing bass and vocals for a cover of the Talking Heads song Psycho Killer.
Solo Projects and Career Transition
Following the conclusion of the Rush! World Tour in 2023, De Angelis diversified her creative output by launching a career as a solo disc jockey. Throughout 2024, she toured across Europe and the United States, focusing on high-tempo electronic music. In August 2024, she released her debut solo single, Get Up Bitch! Shake Ya Ass, which features a collaboration with Brazilian singer Anitta.
