His filmography includes titles such as Omicron (1963), Ro.Go.Pa.G. (1963), Les plus belles escroqueries du monde (1964), and Beautiful Families (1964). His later work moved toward observational and political subjects, exemplified by Apollon: una fabbrica occupata (1969), Contratto (1970), and several projects focused on the Vietnam War, including Vietnam, scene dal dopoguerra (1975) and Oltre la guerra, ad Hanoi (1975). He also appeared as an actor in films such as La terrazza (1980) and It's Happening Tomorrow (1988).
Stage and Institutional Leadership
In 1978, he expanded his directorial scope to include stage representations of both prose and opera. His influence extended into arts administration, where he served as president of the Teatro Stabile di Torino from 1980 until 1989. In 1995, he assumed the role of president of the Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico.
Recognition and Legacy
Gregoretti received significant national honors, including being appointed a Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 1996 and later a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2004. In 2010, his body of work was recognized with a special Lifetime Nastro d'Argento award. He remained active in the industry into the late 2010s, with his final work, Io, il tubo e la pizza, listed as unreleased in 2017. He passed away in Rome in 2019.
