Toni Kroos

Toni Kroos concluded a seventeen-year professional career in 2024, having secured thirty-four major trophies as a midfielder. A Greifswald native born in 1990, he rose through the youth ranks at Hansa Rostock and Bayern Munich before establishing himself as a central playmaker, eventually becoming the second most decorated German player in history behind Thomas Müller.

Early Development and Bundesliga Breakthrough

Kroos joined Bayern Munich's academy in 2006. In September 2007, he became the youngest player to debut for the club's senior side at 17 years and 265 days old. To gain regular playing time, he accepted an eighteen-month loan to Bayer Leverkusen in 2009. His performance there solidified his reputation, as he registered nine goals and twelve assists during the 2009–10 season.

Success with Bayern Munich

Returning to Bayern in 2010, Kroos became a fixture in the starting lineup under Jupp Heynckes. He formed a vital midfield partnership with Bastian Schweinsteiger, helping the club secure numerous honors, including three Bundesliga titles, two DFB-Pokal trophies, and the 2012–13 UEFA Champions League title as part of a historic treble-winning squad.

Dominance at Real Madrid

A €25 million transfer brought Kroos to Real Madrid in 2014. During his decade in Spain, he won twenty-two trophies, highlighted by four La Liga titles and five UEFA Champions League crowns. He achieved the rare feat of winning three consecutive European titles between 2016 and 2018 while being consistently named in the tournament's team of the season.

International Career

Kroos made his senior international debut for Germany in 2010. Over 114 caps, he represented his country in seven major tournaments. He played a pivotal role in the 2014 FIFA World Cup victory, where he led the competition in assists and earned a place in the All-Star Team. He retired from professional football following the 2024 season.
