Cinematic Career
Born in 1966 to director Edmond Keosayan and actress Laura Gevorkyan, Tigran Keosayan studied at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. His directing output included titles such as Poor Sasha, which earned a 1998 TEFI award, and The President and His Granddaughter, which secured a special jury prize at the 2001 Kinotavr festival. He also directed the musical The Twelve Chairs in 2003 and a large volume of music videos for artists like Mikhail Shufutinsky and Irina Allegrova.

Keosayan was a recurring presence on Russian television, hosting talk shows including Evening with Tigran Keosayan on REN-TV, Stop Being Silent!, and the satirical program International Sawmill on NTV. In November 2020, International Sawmill drew criticism for a segment involving an actress in blackface portraying Barack Obama. His broadcasting work frequently intersected with political discourse, and he served as a producer and writer for projects including the 2018 film The Crimean Bridge. Following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Keosayan faced international repercussions for his public support of state narratives. Furthermore, he encountered restrictions in neighboring countries, being denied entry to Kazakhstan in 2022 and declared persona non grata in Armenia alongside his second wife, Margarita Simonyan, due to his public conduct.
Health and Death
Keosayan managed a chronic heart condition for several years, recording heart attacks in 2008 and 2010. By early 2025, his medical status became critical; in January of that year, Simonyan reported that he had undergone clinical death and remained in a coma. He died in Moscow on 26 September 2025 without regaining consciousness. At the time of his passing, he was a Merited Artist of Russia and an Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation.
