Early Development and Group Success
Born Stephanie Young Hwang in San Francisco in 1989, she grew up in Diamond Bar, California. Following her audition, she moved to South Korea to attend the Korea Kent Foreign School while undergoing intensive training. As a core member of Girls' Generation, she contributed to the group's emergence as a dominant force in the global music industry. Beyond the primary ensemble, she performed as part of the subgroup Girls' Generation-TTS, which released EPs including Twinkle, Holler, and Dear Santa.

Young expanded her career beyond group performances by appearing as a musical actress in the Korean adaptation of Fame, playing the character Carmen Diaz. In 2016, she launched her solo music career with the EP I Just Wanna Dance. The project blended American stylistic influences with K-pop sensibilities and charted on the Billboard World Albums list. She later collaborated with artists such as Far East Movement on the track Don't Speak.
Transition to the United States
In October 2017, Young ended her contract with SM Entertainment and relocated to Los Angeles to focus on acting and an independent music career. Adopting the name Tiffany Young, she began releasing music for the U.S. market, including the 2019 EP Lips on Lips and the single Over My Skin. She signed with Paradigm Talent Agency and the label Transparent Arts, while also pursuing modeling work, including as the face of an H&M campaign in 2018.
