Early Career and Buriram Success
Theerathon began his career at Buriram United, where he became a key figure during multiple successful campaigns. In June 2016, Theerathon transferred to Muangthong United on a five-year contract. The transfer fee was reported at 35 million Baht, setting a record for the highest transfer fee in Thai League 1 at that time. Internationally, he represented Thailand across various levels. He served as captain for the Thailand U-23 team during the 2013 Southeast Asian Games and led the senior squad during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification matches. In early 2024, he reached a significant milestone by earning his 100th cap for the national team during the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar.
Stints in Japan
His time in the J.League began with a loan to Vissel Kobe in 2018, where he played alongside international stars like Andres Iniesta and David Villa. He moved to Yokohama F. Marinos on loan for the 2019 season. After securing the league title that year, he signed a permanent contract with the club. His performance earned him recognition from the International Federation of Football History & Statistics, which named him to the 2020 AFC men's team of the year.
Return to Thailand
Theerathon returned to Buriram United in December 2021 after four years in Japan. Since his return, he has continued to dominate the domestic landscape, adding further Thai League 1 titles and domestic cups to his resume. He remains a pivotal tactical component for the side, consistently involved in set-piece duties and playmaking from the left flank.
