Early Career and Print Works
Born in Maisons-Laffitte in 1963, he pursued art studies until 1982. By 1986, he entered the field of print comics with Secrets of the Dragonfly. His collaboration with artist Nicolas de Crécy proved fruitful, producing works such as the 1993 story for Léon-la-Came, which secured the René Goscinny Prize in 1996, and the 1997 title Ugly, Poor, and Sick, which won the Alph-Art Best Comic Prize at the Angoulême Comics Festival.

The 1997 success of The Old Lady and the Pigeons, which earned a BAFTA and an Academy Award nomination, preceded his breakout feature, The Triplets of Belleville. Released in 2003, it garnered two Oscar nominations. He later directed The Illusionist, a 2010 film based on a 1956 script by Jacques Tati, and the 2013 live-action musical-comedy Attila Marcel. His filmography also includes a 2014 couch gag for The Simpsons and the 2015 music video Carmen for Stromae.
