Sudarat Keyuraphan launched her political career in March 1992, winning election to the House of Representatives as a candidate for the Palang Dharma Party. Since that initial victory in Bangkok's District 12, she has held multiple ministerial portfolios and established herself as a central figure in several prominent Thai political organizations across three decades.
Early Career and Ministerial Roles
Following her initial parliamentary success in 1992, Sudarat served as deputy government spokesperson during the Chuan Leekpai administration. By 1994, she ascended to the position of Secretary-General for the Palang Dharma Party and was appointed Deputy Minister of Transport. Her executive experience expanded in 1995 when she transitioned to the role of Deputy Minister of Interior under the government of Banharn Silpa-archa.

In 1998, she collaborated with Thaksin Shinawatra and twenty-one other partners to co-found the Thai Rak Thai Party, eventually serving as its deputy leader. During the 2001 general election, she secured a seat in parliament and subsequently functioned as Minister of Public Health until 2005. During this tenure, she encountered public scrutiny regarding hospital computer procurement. Following the 2006 coup d'état, she was barred from political activities for five years as one of 111 executive members of her party.
Foundation Work and Institutional Leadership
Beyond legislative duties, she has maintained a focus on social initiatives. She established the Foundation for Women for Democracy in 1993 and later launched the Thai Pueng Thai project in 1998 to assist unemployed women during the economic crisis. In 2011, she directed the Miracle of Life Foundation project dedicated to assisting victims of national disasters. Currently, she serves as the chairman of the Thai Pueng Thai Foundation and leads the Thai Sang Thai Party.
Academic and Formal Distinctions
Sudarat completed her undergraduate studies in commerce and accountancy at Chulalongkorn University and earned a master’s degree from the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration. In 2018, she obtained a doctoral degree in Buddhist studies. Her public service has been recognized through various decorations, including the Knight Grand Cordon of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant and the Knight Grand Cordon of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand.
