Steven Victor Tallarico, professionally known as Steven Tyler, entered the music scene in 1964 by forming the Strangeurs in Yonkers, New York. Early Development and Education
Born in 1948, Tyler grew up in the Bronx and later Yonkers. His father, Victor A. Tallarico, was a classical pianist and music educator. Tyler attended Roosevelt High School but did not graduate from that institution, later completing his education at the Quintano School for Young Professionals. His early musical interests included baroque pop, as evidenced by his backing vocal contributions to the Left Banke.

In 1970, Tyler formed Aerosmith alongside Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and eventually Brad Whitford. The band relocated to Boston, settling into a home on Commonwealth Avenue to refine their sound. During the 1970s, the group gained critical attention through hard rock albums such as Toys in the Attic and Rocks, producing successful singles including Dream On and Sweet Emotion. Throughout this period, Tyler became known for his energetic performances and unique stage presence.
Career Longevity and Solo Work
Following a period of diminished activity in the early 1980s, Aerosmith experienced a significant commercial resurgence. Collaborating with Run-DMC on a reimagined version of Walk This Way helped facilitate a successful comeback, supported by multi-platinum releases like Permanent Vacation and Pump. Tyler has also pursued individual creative projects, including the 2016 release of his country rock album, We're All Somebody from Somewhere.
