His career gained momentum in 1985 when he formed The Midnight Rockers with Marty Jannetty in the American Wrestling Association. The pair won the AWA World Tag Team Championship twice before moving to the World Wrestling Federation. As The Rockers, they became a television mainstay until a high-profile dissolution of the team occurred in early 1992.
Championship Legacy
Michaels established himself as a premier singles competitor by capturing the WWF Championship three times and the World Heavyweight Championship once. He was the first Grand Slam Champion in company history and the fourth Triple Crown Champion. His involvement in signature match formats, including the first Hell in a Cell and the first Ladder match, remains a notable component of his record.
Executive Transition
Following a final wrestling match in 2018, Michaels shifted his focus to administrative roles within the WWE. He began coaching at the WWE Performance Center in 2016 and transitioned into a production role for the NXT brand.
