Academic Foundation
Momani completed his undergraduate studies in 1984, receiving a B.Sc. in mathematics from Yarmouk University. He pursued further graduate work at the University of Wales, where he obtained his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1991. His foundational education was augmented by studies at Aberystwyth University, providing the technical basis for his future specialization in fractional calculus and applied mathematical analysis.

Over several decades, Momani held multiple administrative and teaching appointments. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Mathematics at Mutah University from 1994 to 1995. Later, at the University of Jordan, he acted as Chairman of the Department of Mathematics from 2012 to 2014. His administrative duties expanded when he became the Dean of the Faculty of Science from 2014 to 2016, followed by a term as Dean of Academic Research from 2016 to 2018. Additionally, he contributed to academic governance as a member of the Board of Trustees at Princess Sumaya University for Technology and served on the Jordan Scientific Research Support Fund from 2010 to 2012.
Research Recognition
Thomson Reuters identified Momani as one of the world's most influential scientific minds in 2014 and 2015. He was further listed as a highly cited researcher for the period between 2014 and 2018. His scholarly contributions earned him several honors, including the ISESCO Science Prize in 2008 and the TWAS Prize for the Young Scientists in 2000. In 2017, King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein recognized him among the Jordanian Stars of Science at the World Science Forum. Among his distinctions, he holds the Order of King Abdullah II for Excellence of the Second Class and the Ali Mango Distinguished Researcher Prize awarded in 2016.
