His international distinctions include the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Knight of the National Order of Merit, and the Knight of the French Order of Academic Palms. He also holds the rank of Officer of the French Order of Academic Palms. In 2019, he was named Industry Icon in the operator category, and in 2023, he received the Thea Lifetime Achievement Award.

Roland Mack married Marianne Mack in 1974. The couple has three children: Michael, Thomas, and Ann-Kathrin. In November 2011, he received the title King of Fun. His industry involvement extends to board appointments, including his role as the head of the company based in Rust.
