Early Career and Porto Dominance
Born in Porto on 17 March 1983, Meireles entered the Boavista youth system at age seven. Following a two-year loan spell at Aves, he established himself at Boavista, where he scored his first senior goal in May 2003. He signed with Porto in 2004 on a five-year contract. During six seasons at the Estádio do Dragão, he appeared in 198 official matches, winning ten major trophies, including four domestic league titles.

In August 2010, Meireles moved to Liverpool for an £11.5 million fee. His performance during his debut season included significant contributions to the midfield, earning him the PFA Fans' Player of the Year award. In August 2011, he transferred to Chelsea on a four-year deal. During his time in London, he helped the club secure the 2012 FA Cup and served as part of the squad that won the Champions League title that same year.
International Representation and Turkey
His international record includes participation in two World Cups and two European Championships, along with an appearance at the 2004 Olympic Games. In September 2012, he concluded his time in England to join Fenerbahçe, where he played for four seasons before retiring from professional competition.
