Early Development in Haryana
Born on 4 December 1994 in Shahabad Markanda, located in the Kurukshetra district of Haryana, Rampal began her journey into sports at age six. Her father earned a living as a cart-puller, which made the financial demands of professional hockey difficult for her family to manage alone. She received crucial assistance from the GoSports Foundation to support her training. Under the guidance of Dronacharya Award winner Baldev Singh at the Shahabad Hockey Academy, she began formal training in 2003. She eventually gained recognition at the Junior Nationals in Gwalior and the Chandigarh School Nationals before earning a spot in the national squad.

Rampal made her senior team debut at age 14. Her performance at the 2009 Champion's Challenge in Kazan, Russia, brought her significant attention, as she scored four goals in the final to secure victory and claimed both the Top Goal Scorer and Young Player of the Tournament titles. Later that year, she helped India win a silver medal at the Asia Cup. In 2010, she was nominated for the FIH Women's Young Player of the Year Award after scoring seven goals at the Women’s Hockey World Cup in Rosario, Argentina, helping India achieve its best world ranking since 1978.
Leadership and Achievement
Over the following decade, she maintained a consistent presence in international play. She led India to a bronze medal at the 2013 Junior World Cup, where she was named Player of the Tournament. As team captain, she guided India to a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games and served as the flag-bearer for the closing ceremony. She was also a key member of the team that qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she led the squad to its first-ever semifinal appearance in Olympic history. She currently serves as an assistant coach with the Sports Authority of India.
