He found greater prominence after joining a creative circle at Warner Bros. Records in 1966, supported by his friendship with Lenny Waronker. His solo albums, including 'Good Old Boys' and 'Little Criminals', helped secure his standing. Many of his songs, such as 'Mama Told Me Not to Come', 'I Think It's Going to Rain Today', and 'Short People', gained recognition through both his own recordings and covers by various artists.
