Early Career and Education
Born in 1969 in Köyliö, Finland, Orpo pursued his higher education at the University of Turku, where he earned a Master of Social Science degree between 1990 and 2002. Orpo became a member of the Parliament of Finland in 2007. His ministerial career began as Minister of Agriculture and Forestry in 2014. He subsequently served as Minister of the Interior from 2015 to 2016 and Minister of Finance from 2016 to 2019. He was also appointed as Deputy Prime Minister of Finland between 2017 and 2019.

In 2016, Orpo challenged incumbent Alexander Stubb for the leadership of the National Coalition Party and was elected as Chairperson.
