Paavo Lipponen (born 1941) is a Finnish politician and writer. Lipponen was born in Pello on 23 April 1941.
Lipponen held office as Prime Minister of Finland (1995–2003), member of the Parliament of Finland (1983–1987), Speaker of the Parliament of Finland (2003–2007) and member of the Parliament of Finland (1991–2007).
Lipponen received Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour, Order of the Three Stars, 2nd Class (2004), Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 1st Class (2001), Order of the White Star, 1st Class (1995) and Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Falcon (1997). He studied at Dartmouth College, University of Helsinki and Kuopio Lyceum High School.
Lipponen was the son of Orvo Lipponen and Hilkka Iissalo. He married Päivi Lipponen.
