During his five-season tenure on Saturday Night Live, Macdonald performed impressions of numerous figures, including Burt Reynolds, Larry King, and Quentin Tarantino. He anchored the Weekend Update segment for three and a half seasons, gaining attention for his persistent commentary on the O.J. Simpson murder trial. His tenure was marked by controversy, specifically regarding remarks made about John Lotter and Michael Jackson, which drew significant public criticism. He was removed from the anchor position in 1998.
Later Career and Final Works
Following his departure from Saturday Night Live, Macdonald starred in the 1998 film Dirty Work and headlined The Norm Show from 1999 until 2001. He expanded his reach into voice acting for projects such as the Dr. Dolittle films, Mike Tyson Mysteries, and The Orville. Later in his life, he transitioned to digital and streaming platforms, hosting Norm Macdonald Live and the Netflix series Norm Macdonald Has a Show.
