Take the IQ test →Private Astronaut Selection
In 2016, the private organization Die Astronautin initiated a program to facilitate the first space flight by a German woman. At that time, all eleven German individuals who had reached space were men. Winter emerged from a pool of 86 applicants to enter the final selection process alongside 29 other candidates. She was chosen as one of two winners of this selection cycle, though she subsequently elected to withdraw from the private program.
European Space Agency
The European Space Agency selected Winter for its 2022 astronaut group, appointing her to the position of reserve astronaut. This appointment marks her current status within the international framework of space flight operations, supplementing her prior experience as a pilot and candidate in private space exploration initiatives.
