Early Development and Training
Born in 1933 in the village of Pagarushë, she completed primary schooling in Malisheva. Seeking formal instruction, she moved to Belgrade to attend a music school. She spent three years studying in the solo canto section, which established the technical foundation for her transition into opera and other classical genres.

Over the course of her career, Pagarusha interpreted more than 150 songs. Her repertoire earned her various monikers, including the Nightingale of Albanian Music and Madame Butterfly. Among her most significant contributions to the musical landscape is the song Baresha, or The Shepherdess, which was composed by her husband, Rexho Mulliqi, with lyrics by Rifat Kukaj. Beyond music, she maintained a presence in theatre and cinema, appearing in numerous films such as the 1967 production Bloody Wedding and the 1981 film Three people overpass the mountain.
Touring and Public Service
Pagarusha performed extensively outside of her home country, participating in tours with the ensemble Shota across Europe and Israel. Her international reach included stops in Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following her 1984 retirement from performing, she eventually returned to the public sphere in 2000 to sing Për ty during a television broadcast. In her later years, she served as a senior adviser for music at Radio Kosovo and Radio Blue Sky in Pristina.
Recognition and Legacy
Throughout her life, she held citizenship in Kosovo and the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In November 2012, President Bujar Nishani of Albania awarded her the Honor of the Nation decoration. She passed away in Pristina on 7 February 2020 due to an illness.
