Mohamed Mounir Majidi initiated his professional trajectory in 1997 by establishing First Contact Communication, an advertising firm specializing in billboard technology. Since 2000, he has served as the personal secretary to King Mohammed VI, a role that placed him at the center of the Moroccan royal holding company, SIGER, and the administration of the sovereign's significant economic interests.
Early Career and Education
Born in 1965 in Rabat, Majidi grew up in a low-income district as the son of a civil servant. His academic path included a period of private study alongside royal family members. In 1985, he moved to France to study computer science at Louis Pasteur University. Following employment at SAGEM, he transitioned to New York City to earn an MBA in finance at Pace University. Upon returning to Morocco, he held positions at the Banque Commerciale du Maroc, the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion, and various ONA-owned entities.

Appointed president of SIGER in 2002, Majidi focused on consolidating and modernizing the royal holding company. His mandate extended to directing the development strategies for the ONA and the Société Nationale d’Investissement. His objective was to establish economic governance through national champions in sectors including energy, telecommunications, banking, tourism, and real estate. This strategy aimed to elevate Morocco’s status as a key economic player throughout northwestern Africa and the broader continent.
Institutional and Cultural Leadership
Majidi has directed numerous public and cultural initiatives. In 2003, he took over the Cheikh Zaid foundation, implementing an economic model that increased the hospital's turnover from 2.9 million euros to 24.6 million euros by 2012. As president of the Maroc Culture Association, he revamped the Mawazine festival, securing performers such as Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, and Justin Timberlake. Additionally, he modernized the Fath Union Sport (FUS) club and oversaw the 2009 opening of the Mohammed VI soccer academy.
Legal Disputes
In 2012, reports in the French newspaper Le Monde and various Moroccan outlets linked Majidi to allegations of corruption. He responded by filing a defamation lawsuit against journalist Ahmed Benchemsi in France, citing blackmail. On 12 June 2015, the High Court of Paris acquitted Benchemsi of these charges, with the court awarding no damages.
