Miroslav Stoch

A hat-trick scored at fifteen years old for Nitra propelled Miroslav Stoch into professional football, setting the trajectory for a career spanning multiple European leagues. Born in 1989 in Slovakia, the winger transitioned from local academy development to the international stage, securing a reputation for long-distance goals and technical proficiency on the field.

Early Development and Chelsea

Stoch began his training at the Nitra academy. His performance at the youth level attracted international scouts, leading to a move to Chelsea in 2006. He played for the under-18 team, scoring 11 goals in his debut season, and later progressed to the reserve squad.

Success in Eredivisie and Süper Lig

During a one-year loan at Twente in 2009, Stoch played a key role in their first Eredivisie title, scoring 10 league goals. In June 2010, he transferred to Fenerbahçe for a fee of €5.5 million. He contributed to the 2010–11 Süper Lig championship and earned the 2012 FIFA Puskás Award for a long-range volley scored against Gençlerbirliği.

International and Late Career

Stoch made his international debut for Slovakia in 2009 and earned 60 caps, representing the nation at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016. Throughout his career, he had stints at PAOK, Al Ain, Bursaspor, and Slavia Prague. Following his 2020 departure from PAOK, he played for Zagłębie Lubin and Slovan Liberec before returning to FC Nitra in 2026.
