Her career trajectory included serving as the deputy prime minister from 2003 to 2008. Leadership and Government Roles
In 2008, Mottley assumed leadership of the Barbados Labour Party, becoming the first woman to lead the organization. Despite a brief interruption in her leadership role starting in 2010, she returned as Leader of the Opposition in 2013. By 2022, her responsibilities expanded to include the posts of Minister of Finance and Minister of National Security, consolidating executive control during her premiership.
