Early Development and Academic Background
Born in Cairo on September 17, 1991, Massoud emigrated to Canada with his family at the age of three. His formative years included attendance at St. Brother André Catholic High School, where he directed his efforts toward improv theatre. Though he initially enrolled at the University of Toronto to study neuroscience with aspirations toward medicine or psychology, he ultimately pivoted to the arts. He concluded his formal training in 2014, graduating from the theatre performance program at Ryerson University, now known as Toronto Metropolitan University.

Massoud initiated his screen career in 2011 with appearances in Nikita and Combat Hospital. After a recurring stint in Open Heart in 2015 and a role in the 2017 film Ordinary Days, he secured his breakout opportunity as Aladdin in 2019. This performance earned him Teen Choice Award and National Film & TV Award nominations. Subsequent credits include the series Reprisal, the film The Royal Treatment, and the 2023 horror feature The Sacrifice Game, which he also executive produced. His 2025 releases include the romance drama Wish You Were Here and a portrayal of the prophet Daniel scheduled for 2026.
Advocacy and Entrepreneurship
In 2019, Massoud established the Ethnically Diverse Artists Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to assist Canadian artists from minority backgrounds through mentorship and training. That same year, he became an ambassador for the Egyptian Ministry of Migration’s Speak Egyptian initiative. His business interests extend to the spirits industry, where he co-developed Dharma Indian Dry Gin, and the food sector, where he produces the Evolving Vegan cookbook and television series based on his own lifestyle.
