Måns Zelmerlöw

Måns Zelmerlöw first gained public recognition in 2005 as a contestant on the Swedish version of Idol, where he reached the fifth position. His career subsequently spanned diverse roles in television hosting, musical theatre, and pop music, culminating in an international victory at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 with the song Heroes.

Early Television and Musical Theatre

Born in 1986 in the Lund Cathedral parish, Zelmerlöw pursued music studies at the Lars-Erik Larsson-gymnasiet. He entered the professional sphere through the second season of Idol in 2005. Following his elimination in November, he participated in the inaugural season of the Swedish series Let's Dance, securing the first-place title in 2006. That same year, he transitioned to stage acting, performing as Danny Zuko in the Swedish production of Grease.

Melodifestivalen and Album Releases

Zelmerlöw established his recording career through multiple appearances at Melodifestivalen, the Swedish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. He competed in 2007 with the single Cara Mia, which preceded his debut album, Stand by For.... This record achieved platinum status and reached number one in Sweden. Subsequent releases included the album MZW in 2009 and Barcelona Sessions in 2014, with the latter reflecting a shift in his musical approach.

Television Presentation and Eurovision Success

Between 2011 and 2013, he served as the presenter for Allsång på Skansen. His television work also included co-hosting Melodifestivalen in 2010. His return to the competition as a performer in 2015 resulted in a victory for his entry Heroes. This win allowed him to represent Sweden at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, where he achieved first prize. Later that year, he released his fourth studio album, Perfectly Damaged.
