He followed this with Together, a 2000 film focused on a 1970s suburban commune. Both films were characterized by a sunny, optimistic tone. He returned to similar thematic territory in 2013 with We Are the Best!, a story about a young girl punk band based on a comic book by his wife, Coco Moodysson.
