Early Career and Wartime Exile
Born in 1913 to Ambrogio Caccia Dominioni and Maria Paravicini, he emerged from a noble family with roots in Novara. Following his architectural degree, he established a collaborative studio with fellow students Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. His professional progression was interrupted by the Second World War, during which he served in the Italian military. In 1943, following the formation of the puppet Republic of Salò, he refused political alignment and sought refuge in Switzerland.

Upon returning to Milan after the war, he co-founded the firm Azucena in 1947 alongside Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi. This venture facilitated his transition into product design, where he created hundreds of objects, including lamps, furniture, and hardware. His design work earned him multiple Compasso d'Oro awards, notably for the Cdo chair, the 1960 Palini T.12 school chair, and his 1984 Super door design.
Architectural Production
His architectural practice focused on balancing contemporary technology with existing urban structures. Major commissions followed, such as the BVA institute, the Loro-Parisini offices in via Savona, and significant complexes in Corso Europa and Corso Italia. He handled large-scale urban interventions, including the renovation of the former Verziere in collaboration with sculptor Francesco Somaini, and the design of the Parc Saint Roman in Monte Carlo between 1976 and 1983.
