Lucas Rodrigo Biglia, born on 30 January 1986 in Mercedes, Argentina, established a professional career as a defensive midfielder spanning two decades. Primarily identified for his lengthy tenure in the Belgian Pro League, he transitioned from domestic Argentine clubs to prominent roles within European leagues, ultimately representing his national team in two FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Early Career in Argentina

Biglia began his professional football journey at Argentinos Juniors, signing his first contract in 2004. He contributed to the club's promotion to the Argentine First Division during the 2004 season. In February 2005, he transferred to Independiente following his performance at the South American U-20 Championship. Over his tenure with Independiente, he evolved from a reserve player into a consistent first-team starter.

Anderlecht Tenure

In July 2006, Biglia joined the Belgian club Anderlecht. Over seven seasons, he made 312 appearances in the Belgian Pro League and secured four league titles. He was awarded the Young Professional Footballer of the Year in January 2007. His time in Belgium included appearances in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, during which he served as team captain on various occasions.

European Expansion and Retirement

Following his time in Belgium, Biglia moved to the Italian league, where he spent four seasons with Lazio. In 2017, he signed with AC Milan, remaining with the Rossoneri until 2020. His subsequent professional experience included stints in Turkey with Fatih Karagümrük and İstanbul Başakşehir. Biglia retired from all professional football activity in 2023.

International Representation

Biglia represented Argentina at the U20 level, contributing to the team's victory at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. His senior international career spanned from 2011 to 2018, during which he earned 58 caps and scored one goal. He participated in three Copa América tournaments, achieving runners-up status in 2015 and 2016, and was a member of the squad that reached the 2014 FIFA World Cup final.
