The acquisition of leade.rs by Animoca in 2019 marked another shift in the professional trajectory of French entrepreneur Loïc Le Meur. Based in Perpignan, he built a career spanning digital agency management, software development, and global conference organization. His work focuses on the intersection of blogging, social media infrastructure, and emerging internet platforms throughout the early 21st century.
Early Ventures and Agency Foundation
Upon graduating from HEC Paris in 1996, Le Meur launched his initial business venture, the interactive agency B2L. He subsequently established RapidSite France, a web hosting service tailored for small businesses. Following a strategy of growth and divestment, he sold the company to France Télécom in 1999, where it transitioned into the Wanadoo brand. In 2000, he continued his entrepreneurial activity by founding the application service provider Tekora.

In October 2003, Le Meur acquired the French weblog hosting firm Ublog from founder Stéphane Le Solliec. He expanded the operation before merging it with Six Apart in July 2004. During his tenure as Executive Vice President for the EMEA region, he managed the integration until March 2007, when he handed the responsibilities to Olivier Creiche. He maintained a relationship with the firm, holding the title of Honorary Chair of Six Apart Europe.
Conference Leadership and Political Involvement
Starting in 2004, Le Meur collaborated on the official World Economic Forum blog. Alongside Géraldine Le Meur, he established LeWeb, an annual conference dedicated to the internet industry. By 2010, the event attracted over 2,600 attendees from 60 countries, and participation rose to approximately 3,200 by 2014. Beyond the digital space, he acted as an advisor on internet policy for Nicolas Sarkozy during the 2006 presidential campaign.
Seesmic Development
Le Meur relocated to San Francisco in 2007 to establish Seesmic. Initially designed to foster a community of video bloggers, the platform shifted focus to social media client software following the 2008 economic crisis. The company acquired Ping.fm in 2010 to integrate updates across 50 social media channels. By February 2011, the firm secured $16 million in funding from investors including Salesforce.com and Softbank, prior to its acquisition by HootSuite in 2012.
