Early Development and Domestic Play
Born in 1999 in Milnerton, Wolvaardt progressed through youth cricket structures, representing the Western Province U-19 girls' team at age 11. She debuted for the Western Province women's team in October 2013 during a Twenty20 match against Boland. Her domestic career expanded internationally as she joined the Brisbane Heat for the 2017–18 and 2018–19 Women's Big Bash League seasons, helping the team secure a title win. Wolvaardt made her international debut in February 2016 against England. In August 2016, she became South Africa's youngest centurion in international cricket at age 17, scoring 105 against Ireland. Her Test debut occurred in June 2022 against England. By July 2024, she recorded a Test century against India, becoming the third woman to achieve a century in all three international formats. She earned recognition as Women's Newcomer of the Year in 2017 and South Africa's Women's Cricketer of the Year in 2020.
Leadership and Recent Performance
As captain, Wolvaardt guided the South African national side to runners-up finishes in both the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup and the 2025 WODI World Cup. Her consistency in the international arena led to her nomination across three categories in the 2024 ICC Awards, specifically for Women’s Cricketer, ODI Cricketer, and T20I Cricketer of the Year.
