Early Career and Junior Success
Born in Roskilde, Denmark, on 5 October 1992, Magnussen is the son of former Formula One driver Jan Magnussen. He began his path in karting before moving to the 2008 Danish Formula Ford Championship, where he won the title with eleven victories. Lack of funding briefly forced him to work as a factory welder before securing sponsorship for Formula Renault in 2009. By 2013, he achieved championship success in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with DAMS, securing eight pole positions and five victories.

Magnussen joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme in 2010 and debuted in Formula One for the team in 2014. Following his inaugural season, he served as a reserve driver before a stint with Renault in 2016. He later competed for Haas from 2017 to 2020 and returned to the team from 2022 to 2024. During his time at Haas, he achieved his maiden pole position at the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix and recorded a career-best ninth place in the 2018 World Drivers' Championship.
