The tenure of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz as Prime Minister of Poland spanned from 31 October 2005 to 14 July 2006. Early Career and Education
Born on 20 December 1959 in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Marcinkiewicz studied physics at the University of Wrocław, graduating in 1984. He later completed a post-graduate course in administration at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. His early professional life included roles as an elementary school teacher and headmaster in his home city. During the 1980s, he participated in the Solidarity movement and managed underground press materials. By 1992, he served as a State Secretary in the Ministry of National Education, later acting as cabinet chief for Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek between 1999 and 2000.

Following the 2005 parliamentary elections, Jarosław Kaczyński declined the premiership to support the presidential campaign of his twin brother, Lech Kaczyński. This paved the way for Marcinkiewicz to assume the office of Prime Minister. During his time in power, he gained visibility for his vocal enthusiasm regarding budget negotiations, specifically his 'Yes, yes, yes!' remark on 17 December 2005. His premiership ended in July 2006 when he resigned his post. Shortly thereafter, he served as the acting mayor of Warsaw, an appointment he held before losing the 2006 municipal election to Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
Transition to Banking
After leaving domestic politics, Marcinkiewicz shifted his career toward financial institutions. He worked as a director for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development from March 2007 until May 2008. Subsequently, he held a position at Goldman Sachs from 2008 until 2013, based in London. Throughout his career, he has been involved with entities such as Powszechna Kasa Oszczędności Bank Polski. His public life also included a period of scrutiny regarding his personal conduct and adherence to traditional values.
